Winter is the Time for Stories

Our upcoming documentary feature film explores the significance of storytelling in Indigenous cultures and the struggles to keep the traditions alive.

Winter is the time for stories will focus on 4 Native American storytellers from the northeastern US. Each chapter will let us get to know each person and also hear them perform their stories.

OUR STORY

Mission

Our team is a Coop of Creators. Together we are determined to capture Indigenous storytelling before it is lost in time with the passing of the elders. Indigenous storytelling is a way for people to connect with their people’s history and culture. The stories teach lessons of survival while linking the audience to the identities and habits of traditional ways of life. While these stories allow insight into ways of human survival, they also allow the survival of culture and customs. After many Indigenous people have been forced to assimilate into modern society, we find that traditional storytelling is becoming a lost art. Our mission is the capture these stories before they are lost in history and to allow the stories to survive in our modern world.

“The truth about stories is that that's all we are.”
